When a recruit hesitates to commit, it’s often not because they doubt your program—it’s because they doubt themselves.
Recruits aren’t just asking, “Is this the right school for me?” They’re asking, “Can I thrive here?”
This week, focus on building their belief in their ability to succeed in your program. Here’s how:
- Show Real Success Stories. Highlight examples of athletes like them who have excelled at your school—both on and off the field. Share their journeys and outcomes to inspire confidence.
- Simplify Their First Step. Paint a picture of what their first weeks in your program will look like and the immediate wins they’ll achieve—whether that’s improvement in their skills, finding a community, or feeling supported in their academic and athletic transition.
- Eliminate the Fear of Failure. Address their concerns head-on with tangible support: academic resources, mentorship programs, and coaching strategies designed to help them succeed. Show empathy for their worries and provide assurances that you’re committed to their development.
- Align With Their Vision. Position your program as the perfect platform to help them achieve their bigger dreams—whether that’s playing at the next level, building lifelong relationships, or earning a degree in a field they’re passionate about.
Confidence is the key to commitment. When recruits believe they can thrive in your program, saying yes becomes easy.
Action Step: Take 15 minutes to tweak your conversations and messaging—focus less on what your program offers and more on how the recruit can succeed and reach their full potential with your team.
