Stop Wasting Time. Use Checklists.

by Mandy Green, Busy Coach

Hey Coach, let me ask you something.

How many times do you repeat the same tasks?
Setting up a campus visit?
Planning team travel?
Running game day?

It’s the same thing over and over… but every time feels harder than it should.
You forget steps.
You waste time.
You get stressed.

It doesn’t have to be that way.

Checklists Save You Time (And Headaches)

Look, your brain is already full. You’ve got games to prep for, recruits to impress, players to manage. Why use brainpower remembering little details? That’s what checklists are for.

A simple checklist takes the “thinking” out of tasks you do all the time.

Example: Campus visits.
You know how big those are. Recruits are watching your every move. You miss one detail—bad impression. You nail the visit—you’ve got a shot at getting them to commit.

But planning those visits? It’s a mess if you don’t have a system.

  • Solution: One on-campus visit checklist.
    It tells you:
Every step to set up the visit
  • Who’s doing what
  • Deadlines
  • Contact info
  • What paperwork’s needed

No guessing. No stress. No mistakes.

And here’s the kicker… Anyone can use the checklist.
If your recruiting coordinator gets sick or takes another job, no problem. The system’s in place. The visit still happens perfectly.

Why Checklists Work

✔️ You stop wasting brainpower.
✔️ You save time.
✔️ You make fewer mistakes.
✔️ You can hand tasks off without chaos.

Think about it… How much time do you lose trying to remember tiny details?
How often do things fall through the cracks?
That’s costing you. Time. Energy. Wins.

Where You Need Checklists

Start small. Make one for your biggest headache.

Here are four good ones:

  • Campus Visits
  • Game Day Setup
  • Team Travel
  • Camps

You’ll feel the difference fast. More control. Less stress. Fewer mistakes.

Ready to Get Your Time Back?

Start writing down the steps.
What needs to happen?
Who does it?
When does it happen?
What details do you need?

It takes time to set it up. But after that? You’ll save hours. You’ll avoid costly mistakes. You’ll look sharp to recruits, staff, and your players.

Trust me, Coach—systems win. Winging it loses.
Use checklists. Work smarter. Win more.
