Coaches, you are about to be awakening out of a long, long recruiting hibernation. Are you ready?
If you know anything about actual hibernation, or read about it, you’ll realize that it takes a couple weeks for a bear to get back to full throttle after awakening. Whether you like it or not, college coaches will likely experience the same effect. This is why you need to use May effectively, so you’ll be running on all cylinders when June rolls around and you are able to have expanded contact with your prospects.
Finding creative ways to pick up your recruiting activity during the day will not only help your stamina physically, but sharpen your mind to get back into shape.
Does everything look the way you want it in your offices for when visits occur? How’s your tour path? Are you still in “talking while walking” shape?
Have you revamped your approach on the phone?
Have you practiced calls conversations with your staff? Nothing wrong with working out the kinks and playing devil’s advocate with each other. It’s an “iron sharpens iron” type of thing.
Do your questions or selling points sound just like every other call? – remember, prospects want a conversational tone in everything… phone calls, video chats, texts, emails, and social media.
Are you telling prospects information that will stick out or just the same things that they can Google? If prospects keep hearing the same facts and questions with every coach, then they are in control of choosing what blends together and what doesn’t! Scary!
Is your messaging planned out? Is it updated and refined? Prospects want something that is easy to read and simple to understand or remember. Prioritize your deliveries!
Is your staff organized to be efficient? Without letting any other areas slip?
What methods are you going to use to connect and reach out?
Who are you contacting first?
After the main selling points that you want them to remember, what are their actionable next steps?
Think about how excited you are. Now think about how overwhelming it can be if you’re not ready.
Prospects are likely going to be even more overwhelmed. It is important to have an approach that will comfort them and not just blend into the chaos.
Have you planned out a consistent timeline beyond just the first few weeks?
Like the dead period, there’s only so much coaches can control. It is our hope and mission at Tudor Collegiate Strategies to make sure you are in control of your approach and the entire recruiting process!
