2 Simple Principles to Transform Your Coaching Results—Fast!

by Mandy Green, Busy Coach

Today, I want to share two simple principles that will completely change how you plan your days and drive results for your program.

Principle #1: Not All Tasks Are Created Equal

Right now, there are probably 2–3 tasks you do that are 10x more valuable to your program than everything else combined. The problem? Most coaches stay buried in busy work instead of focusing on these high-impact actions.

Take one of my clients as an example: he was grinding 80+ hours a week—but his recruiting and team progress never moved. After just one strategy session, we uncovered a massive gap in how he advanced recruits during calls.

Two weeks later, he had:

  • 3 commitments locked in
  • 4 clear “no’s” to stop wasting time
  • 10 top recruits mapped out with clear next steps

What changed? He stopped doing everything—and started doing what mattered. His recruiting pipeline went from chaos to clarity, without adding more hours to his schedule.

Most coaches are too busy doing work that doesn’t move the needle. They confuse effort with impact.

The truth is, to build a winning program, you need to move from a work ethic mindset to a results ethic mindset.

Ask yourself:

  • What are the 2–3 key tasks that drive real progress for your program?
  • Are you spending 80% of your time on them?

Principle #2: Not All Hours Are Created Equal

Once you’ve nailed down your high-impact tasks, there’s another step most coaches miss: When you do them matters.

You’re not equally productive at 7 AM as you are at 7 PM. Your energy and focus fluctuate daily, but most coaches plan their schedule as if they’re running on 100% battery all day long.

Top coaches understand their own energy cycles. They tackle the most important work when they’re naturally sharp and focused. It’s not about grinding more hours—it’s about using your best hours for your best work.

Try This:

  • Identify your peak energy hours—when you’re most focused and clear-headed.
  • Block that time for your most important work: recruiting calls, game planning, staff meetings.
  • Save low-energy hours for admin tasks and emails.

Action Plan:

  1. Identify Your Key Tasks — What 2–3 things drive real progress?
  2. Block High-Energy Hours — Protect that time for critical work.
  3. Eliminate Low-Value Tasks — Hand them off or cut them out.
