How to Recruit at a Higher Level—Without the Stress and Burnout

by Mandy Green, Busy Coach

Hey Coach,

I remember when I first started recruiting. I thought the only way to build a winning team was to outwork everyone—sending more emails, making more calls, grinding harder than the competition.

The problem?

Even when I wasn’t actively recruiting, my mind never shut off.

Did I say the right thing on that call?
Should I have approached that recruit differently?
Why didn’t they respond to my last email?

Recruiting consumed my life.

I’ve seen so many coaches go through this—working tirelessly, but constantly feeling overwhelmed, frustrated, and like they have no control over their time or results.

But here’s what I figured out:

The best recruiters aren’t the ones grinding the hardest.

They’re the ones who know how to control their focus, energy, and time.

Here’s how you can do the same:

Set Boundaries That Stick
Your time is yours to control. If you’re always available, you’re always working. Define your recruiting hours, set expectations for your staff, and don’t let recruiting take over your life.

Detach from the Outcome
Not every recruit is going to commit. Instead of stressing over the ones who don’t, focus on what you can control—improving your message, building better relationships, and learning from each interaction.

Own Your Mornings, Protect Your Evenings
Your best recruiting days start before your first call or email. Spend 10 minutes setting clear priorities. End your day by reviewing what worked, what didn’t, and adjusting your approach for tomorrow.

Surround Yourself with the Right People
Recruiting can feel isolating if you’re doing it alone. A strong system, great mentors, and the right strategy will help you level up faster and remind you why you started in the first place.

The difference between a burned-out recruiter and a high-performing one isn’t talent.

It’s structure, strategy, and support.

And that’s exactly what we provide inside the Total Recruiting Solution (TRS) at Tudor Collegiate Strategies.
